Paul Tomory brings to Private Capital Markets Corp. his experience in deal structuring, strategy and valuation.

With Private Capital, Paul has participated in the preparation of several confidential information and offering memorandums. These have ranged from first-round financings ($1M to $4M) for startup firms; divestitures and sales of established businesses ($20M to $150M); and later round financings for growth companies ($4M). In addition he has led or co-led the process for the sale of several companies ($20M-$150M)

Paul spent several years, from 2001 through 2007, as a strategy consultant in the Toronto office of Bain & Company. His experience there included expansion strategy development for clients in retail, telecommunications and construction markets; regulatory strategy for a financial services firm; acquisition diligence for major private equity firms; restructuring and real estate optimization in the manufacturing sector; and, performance improvement for clients in the professional services, airline and mining industries.

Prior to joining Bain & Company, Paul spent a year working with Shorcan Brokers, a major Toronto-based fixed-income broker, in starting up a new derivatives trading business (Shorcan Index). He served on the board of directors of Shorcan Brokers until its sale to the Toronto Stock Exchange in December, 2006

Before business school, Paul was a project engineer for five years with Golder Associates, a major international geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering firm. He specialized in mining and construction.

Paul earned both his Bachelor and Master of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) from the University of Toronto, and has an MBA from the Rotman School of Management. He is a registered professional engineer (P. Eng.) in Ontario. He is a member of the board of directors of Lusight Research, a startup equity research firm based in Toronto.
